Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do you select the right preschool for your child?
Maplelawn Childcare welcomes any family looking for a preschool for their child/children. We offer daily tours to the families.
If you like to tour our preschool in-person pls Schedule a Tour from our website.
Tell us a little bit about the in-person school tour?
We prioritize understanding the specific needs of each parent. This insight allows us to tailor our school tours to highlight the most relevant aspects of our program. During the tour, we dedicate ample time to explaining our daily routine and educational process. Parents have the opportunity to meet our experienced staff, interact with teachers, and closely examine our classrooms. By showcasing our methodology, materials, and overall classroom environment, we aim to provide parents with a comprehensive understanding of our school and how it can best support their child’s development.
How will I be informed of my child’s progress?
Maplelawn Childcare uses a mobile application for communications, it is simple and literally acts as a text message to the teacher or vice versa to know more about the child.
We also encourage the traditional method of setting up a time to meet with the teacher before or after teaching hours. If you have concerns or just want to know about what your child is doing in the classroom, don’t hesitate to set up an appointment.
Maplelawn Childcare offers parent-teacher conference twice a year, one in January and the second at the end of the year. That would be the best time to find out all about the child’s growth and progress.
What is the Teacher Student Ratio?
We keep our class sizes small to give each child lots of attention. Here’s how many children are in each classroom:
- Infants (6 weeks – 24 months): 1 teacher for every 3 infants.
- Toddlers (2 – 3 years): 1 teacher for every 6 students.
- Preschoolers (3 – 6 years): 1 teacher for every 10 preschoolers.
Does your school operate all year around?
Maplelawn Childcare offers year-round preschool care to support busy families. We’re closed on all federal holidays.
Do you have summer camp?
Maplelawn Childcare offers a fun-filled summer camp for kids ages 2 to 5 years. Many of our campers return each year! We love taking the kids on adventures to nearby parks and museums. With Washington D.C. just a short drive away, there’s always something new to explore. We also invite special guests to entertain and educate our campers
How much play time do the children get in a day?
In our Preschool, our children get about 2-3 hours of play time which includes morning social interaction, playground time for two 30 minutes and evening social interaction time. The children who get dropped off before 9 AM and who are in the school after 5 PM are interacting, playing with other children and with stem toys. The children get about an hour of playground time spilt into 2 half hour sessions.
